You have been moving fast for a long time. Doing the things, carrying the load, showing up for everyone.
This trip is for you.
Rooted & Grounded is a small-group wellness getaway to Southern Italy — ten days of daily yoga, healing food, crystal-clear sea, and the kind of slow, generous living that Calabria has practiced for centuries. We're not just promising a vacation. We're promising a reset. The deep kind.
Led by Leah Adams and Jessica Schaber, hosted by the Pugliano family of Ciccio's Olives — on the actual farm, at the actual table, in the actual groves. This is where you come to remember who you are.
Every morning begins on the mat. Every evening ends at a long table under the southern Italian sky. In between, there is sea, sun, olive groves, cooking, creating, and the rare luxury of having nowhere to be but exactly where you are.
This is not a retreat center. This is a working agriturismo in Calabria — ancient, beautiful, and completely unhurried. Ciccio's Olives has been rooted in this land for generations, and for ten days, so will you.
Leah & Jess believe that some of the best parts of our lives are the things we never could have planned.
This retreat is part of one of those stories.
A chance visit to Ciccio’s Olives in West Reading, Pennsylvania, began with nothing more than curiosity. They weren't searching for something that would someday connect them to a retreat in Italy. They simply walked through a door they hadn’t planned to walk through.
What the girls discovered inside was more than olive oil. It was family, tradition, food, heritage, storytelling, and a connection to Italy that stayed with them. One unexpected moment became a relationship. And eventually, that small detour became part of a much bigger journey—one leading all the way to Italy.
There is something beautifully yogic about that.
Yoga teaches us to pay attention to what is here rather than constantly reaching toward what comes next. Power teaches us to discover our strength. Yin reminds us that there is wisdom in softness, patience, and surrender.
And travel asks us to practice all of it.
This retreat is an invitation to move and to be still. To explore and to linger. To gather around tables, share incredible food, laugh, connect, and experience a place through the people and traditions that give it life. Most of all, it is an invitation to arrive as you are.
To pay attention. To stay curious. And to leave a little room for the unexpected.
Because some of the best parts of our lives are the things we never could have planned. Sometimes, they begin simply because we noticed a door—and decided to walk through it.
The kitchen is open-air. The ingredients just came from the earth beneath your feet. And Chef Pino is about to ruin every cooking class you'll ever take after this one.
This is your personal slice of the Calabrian Riviera — reserved, unhurried, and exactly as beautiful as you imagined.
Sun-drenched days end the only way they should — at a long table, with good people, and a sea that refuses to stop being beautiful.
We built every trip around one home agriturismo base — rustic, elegant, and completely yours. Because the best travel doesn't rush you. It roots you.
Certified Yoga Instructor
As a former D1 athlete, Leah finished college with a strong desire to continue developing physical skill and athletic stamina. When she discovered yoga almost 25 years ago, she found not only a physical practice but a rigorous approach to mindfulness and a functional system for getting to know herself.
Moving and processing energy and emotion are the primary drivers of Leah’s personal practice. She believes yoga should be all the things including FUN, challenge and ease!
Founders, Ciccio's Olives
Pino and Laura Pugliano are the family behind Ciccio's Olives — farmer's son, olive oil producer & importer, trained chef, and generous hosts. The Pugliano family farm in Vena di Maida, Calabria, is where your olive oil comes from, where your cooking class happens, and where dinner under the stars will ruin every other dinner for the foreseeable future.
Certified Yoga Instructor
For Jess, yoga has never been only about the poses. It has become a place to return to herself—to pause, breathe, listen, and meet herself exactly where she is.
A storyteller by nature, she weaves music, movement, humor, yoga philosophy, and pieces of everyday life into practices that invite curiosity rather than perfection. Whether flowing through a strong Power practice or settling into the quiet of Yin, Jess encourages her students to listen—to their breath, to their bodies, and to what they need in each moment.
She believes yoga isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about becoming present enough to meet the person who is already here.
